Then head on to the plateau where we set up camp amongst the tall pine trees. Relax in the evening at camp or have a sundowner at the nearby beautiful Ku Chawe Inn. Dinner is served around the campfire.
Spend the day on the Zomba Plateau, one of the most popular areas in Malawi for walking and hiking. Go for a hike to Chingwe’s Hole, a natural hole, or see one of the many waterfalls and stunning viewpoints on the plateau.
After an early breakfast, depart to Liwonde National Park, the best game park in Malawi. Stop on the way at some superb local craft stables. After setting up camp, enjoy your lunch in the beautiful surroundings of Mvuu Campsite. Spend the rest of the day in the camp before going on a night game drive. After the night game drive, enjoy dinner accompanied by the mysterious wildlife sounds of the national park.
Go on a boat safari on the Shire River which is populated by countless hippos and crocodiles. The 370 species of birds in the park can be seen along the river and the boat safari offers an excellent opportunity to get close to the many birds and animals which are dependent on the river. Afterwards, go on an afternoon/night game drive accompanied by one of the guides of Mvuu Camp inside the Liwonde National Park. A population of 10 black rhinos lives in a sanctuary within the park. Waterbucks, sable antelopes, impalas and elephants are found close to the river. Further, into the park, more animals like lions, leopards, hyenas and kudus can be spotted. Recently, also cheetah was reintroduced to the park.
