Tanzania Triumphs at the 2025 World Travel Awards.

It’s official — Tanzania is Africa’s Leading Destination 2025!
For the second year in a row and third time overall, Tanzania has secured its place at the very top of Africa’s tourism map. Making history, the country proudly walked away with 27 out of 60 awards during the prestigious World Travel Awards Africa & Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony, held in Dar es Salaam on 28 June 2025.

This remarkable achievement comes only a year after Tanzania won five awards — a true testament to the nation’s rapid rise as a world-class travel destination.

A Vision Turned Reality

Under the inspiring leadership of President Samia Suluhu Hassan, Tanzania’s tourism sector has flourished like never before. Through the globally acclaimed Royal Tour documentary, the country showcased its breathtaking attractions to the world, inviting travelers to witness the beauty, culture, and wildlife of Tanzania firsthand.

Strategic investments in tourism infrastructure, increased budget allocations, and improved accessibility to conservation areas have all contributed to this success. The results speak for themselves — Tanzania not only claimed Africa’s Leading Destination 2025, but also received top honors for Best Tourist Attractions, Best Safari Destination in Africa, and Best Airport in Africa.

It comes as no surprise that the Tanzania Tourist Board was also named Africa’s Leading Tourist Board 2025.
